Little Creek Maple Farm

Our adventures around the homestead.

Blueberries!

blue

Finally, we may have blueberries this year.  Two plants we bought last year at Lowe’s mostly survived the winter and have been doing well since I transplanted them to a better location in the yard.  One of them looks a little rough but the little growth I’ve seen is a positive for me.

Also, Wen’s grand poo-bah blueberry plant was practical blooming when we bought it at Bedford Fields, so that should be a sure thing.

As we were mulching earlier this spring we also found possibly 3 or 4 high bush blueberry plants that were well established on the fringes of woods.

Now if we can just keep the critters away and if I could learn to like blueberries we would be all set.

  1. Hi Bill! Nice to see you blogging/homesteading. We have been working on our little 1/4 acre in Portland to make it as food productive as possible. Just put in our first fruit trees and our blueberries are teeny tiny. I’ve also been on a search for 2 more pallets to complete our compost system…then onto chickens! I haven’t been blogging as much as usual but you can find me at http://www.alittlebunny.blogspot.com
